Of course , that does not mean that kitchen flooring feelings can\’t be pretty too. Acquiring beautiful patterns and is carried out available regardless of the material you choose, there\’s no excuse for your kitchen\’s floor not to be a major feature of the space. Flooring tiles come in a range of all-natural and manmade materials together with finishes, from textured each day matt to high shimmer.
Some tiles are more porous than others – anything to be careful of with a room where moisture amounts tend to be high. If you\’ve been down in love with a tile, like terracotta, that is porous, be sure it\’s well sealed, plus resealed regularly.
Choose: Will need real stone? Opt for track record or granite. For manmade materials, porcelain or standard ceramic tiles are a time-tested flooring option for kitchens. What\’s often the? Real stone has an abundance of character; manmade materials much less so , although they are generally economical and can be made to mimic a number of other materials convincingly, such as wood. Stop: Limestone, which tends to scuff, and travertine, which is porous.
Lay mosaic glass diagonally rather than square with regards to the wall, too, to enhance the effects further. Tiles with a uneven or dimpled skin surface are much more difficult to keep clean than those with a basic finish.
Installing floor mosaic glass: Is perfectly doable by way of DIYers, unless your surfaces tiles are particularly heavy along with expensive, or a tricky substance to cut which some regular stones are , in which case purchase services of a professional. Cleaning floor tiles: To clean your own personal tiled kitchen floor, help with warm water only on natural stone, and a mild detergent on difficult and porcelain.
But any kitchen will always be discover a lot of moisture, which means selecting a wood flooring needs to be a careful one. Choose: Created wood flooring, which will execute much better in a kitchen , with a durable top classe, it is much more resistant to bending and movement than timber. Avoid: Expensive, solid wood flooring, which can warp when put through water. Design know-how: For a on-trend, expensive finish, include things like parquet flooring laid in an exceedingly herringbone pattern.
Lighter hardwood colors will create a more ample feel in your kitchen, but actually will show dirt more quickly; the white kind of or pale cabinetry may possibly look stunning contrasted obtaining dark wood flooring, which usually hides marks more effectively.
Much larger boards look more contemporary when held up against narrower ones. Installing solid wood flooring: Professional installation is usually recommended for a perfect complete, but as most of the ranges at this time come as a floating flooring surfaces with a click-lock system, skilled DIYers will be able to install solid wood flooring themselves. Cleaning authentic wood flooring: Clean your solid wood flooring with a damp steamer, and avoid saturating the surface along with water.
It can be main edge over wooden and wood flooring is it is expense effectiveness, although high-quality in addition to pricier options are available. Stain- and scratch-resistant, it\’s a fantastic option for busy eating out rooms, but check yours offers with the room\’s steamy problems before buying. Choose: Higher-end layered, which can have a very convincing wood made or tile effect, stuffed with grain finishes, embossing, beveled edges and stone appearance.
Avoid: The cheapest laminate, that will tends to stain, warp, along with peel. With laminate floors, you get what you pay for, combined with cheaper options often getting an overly shiny and unrealistic effect.
Design skills: Go for a low-sheen finish, to view the details mentioned above, such as beveled edges, to get a truly powerful lookalike. Protect your layered flooring from damage by simply heavy kitchen appliances with an underlay.
Installing laminate flooring: It is possible to lay most laminate floors yourself, as most manufacturers find updated their laminate getting easy-to-fit locking systems. Clean-up laminate flooring: To clean your laminate floor, use a moist cloth, but never any kind of soaking wet mop, which may get water under the laminate flooring and ruin the concept.

Full Text Available This article examines transformations in the roles and treatment practices of traditional Palestinian women healers in Israel.
Comparing narratives of women healers residing in Jewish-Arab mixed cities in central Israel with those of their counterparts in the Bedouin community of the Negev reveals that traditional healing has not disappeared as a result of modernization but rather has transformed. Urban women healers are abandoning treatment of physical problems in favor of addressing life hardships; they distance themselves from problems whose cause and treatment are considered natural and prefer those perceived as derived from supernatural causes and treated through supernatural, magical and religious means.
Despite these transformations, traditional Palestinian women healers appear as agents of preservation and conservatism, a role that imbues them with a central position in their community. Hence, their place is currently secured and expected to remain so as processes of modernization and acculturation increase in intensity.
URN: urn:nbn:defqs Modernism and tradition and the traditions of modernism. Full Text Available Conventionally, the story of musical modernism has been told in terms of a catastrophic break with the tonal past and the search for entirely new techniques and modes of expression suitable to a new age.
The resulting notion of a single, linear, modernist mainstream predicated on the basis of a Schoenbergian model of musical progress has served to conceal a more subtle relationship between past and present. Increasingly, it is being recognized that there exist many modernisms and their various identities are forged from a continual renegotiation between past and present, between tradition s and the avant-garde. This is especially relevant when attempting to discuss the reception of modernism outside central Europe, where the adoption of Germanic avant-garde attitudes was often interpreted as being \”unpatriotic\”.

The ability to Hypothesis-driven physical examination curriculum. Medical students traditionally learn physical examination skills as a rote list of manoeuvres. Alternatives like hypothesis-driven physical examination HDPE may promote students\’ understanding of the contribution of physical examination to diagnostic reasoning. We sought to determine whether first-year medical students can effectively learn to perform a physical examination using an HDPE approach, and then tailor the examination to specific clinical scenarios.
Medical students traditionally learn physical examination skills as a rote list of manoeuvres CONTEXT: First-year medical students at the University of Minnesota were taught both traditional and HDPE approaches during a required week clinical skills course in their first semester. The end-of-course evaluation assessed HDPE skills: students were assigned one of two cardiopulmonary cases. Each case included two diagnostic hypotheses.
During an interaction with a standardised patient, students were asked to select physical examination manoeuvres in order to make a final diagnosis. Items were weighted and selection order was recorded. First-year students with minimal pathophysiology performed well. All students selected the correct diagnosis. Importantly, students varied the order when selecting examination manoeuvres depending on the diagnoses under consideration, demonstrating early clinical decision-making skills.
An early introduction to HDPE may reinforce physical examination skills for hypothesis generation and testing, and can foster early clinical decision-making skills. This has important implications for further research in physical examination instruction. First year undergraduate courses in higher education tend to be designed based on assumptions of students\’ prior knowledge.
Almost undergraduates at five UK universities, studying biological sciences, were given an MCQ test in their first week at university, based on biology A-level pre-university examination core criteria.
The overlap between cyberbullying and traditional bullying. Sexuality and spirituality: the relevance of eastern traditions. This article outlines some of the major Eastern sexual and spiritual traditions primarily Hinduism, Taoism and Tantrism , and discusses their relevance for the contemporary Western world.
The article begins by examining the sources of Eastern sexual traditions , before and after the \”Axial\” period, the turning point at which male consciousness and power gained ascendancy over the female principle.
Although a phallocentric view of the world came to dominate the East, Eastern cultures — unlike the West — maintained a respect for nature. According to this view, health and spirituality are gained only when humanity respects its place in the cosmos and lives in harmony with nature.
The article then examines the sexual traditions of Hinduism, in which sexual asceticism not only coexisted but also complimented the celebration of sexual desire and pleasure. The article then discusses the Taoist traditions , which, among other things, stressed the importance of female sexual satisfaction. Taoism argued that men cannot experience true sexual ecstasy unless they develop the ability to control their ejaculation. The Tantric sexual tradition , the article explains, maintained that ultimate sexual pleasure would enable one to experience the true nature of reality.
Finally, the article considers the relevance of these Eastern philosophies to the Western sexual tradition , which has tended to view sexuality as antagonistic to spiritual liberation. The effectiveness of using non- traditional teaching methods to prepare student health care professionals for the delivery of mental state examination : a systematic review.
With the evolution of education, there has been a shift from the use of traditional teaching methods, such as didactic or rote teaching, towards non- traditional teaching methods, such as viewing of role plays, simulation, live interviews and the use of virtual environments. Mental state examination is an essential competency for all student healthcare professionals.
If mental state examination is not taught in the most effective manner so learners can comprehend its concepts and interpret the findings correctly, it could lead to serious repercussions and subsequently impact on clinical care provided for patients with mental health conditions, such as incorrect assessment of suicidal ideation. However, the methods for teaching mental state examination vary widely between countries, academic institutions and clinical settings.
This systematic review aimed to identify and synthesize the best available evidence of effective teaching methods used to prepare student health care professionals for the delivery of mental state examination. This review considered evidence from primary quantitative studies which address the effectiveness of a chosen method used for the teaching of mental state examination published in English, including studies that measure learner outcomes, i.

Effectiveness of an audience response system on orthodontic knowledge retention of undergraduate dental students–a randomised control trial.
To determine the effect of an audience response system ARS on knowledge retention of dental students and to gauge student perceptions of using the ARS. Randomised control study. School of Dentistry, Cardiff University. Seventy four second-year dental students were stratified by gender and randomised anonymously to one of two groups. One group received a lecture on orthodontic terminology and diagnosis in a traditional didactic format and the other received the same lecture integrated with ARS slides.
Students completed an assessment of multiple-choice questions MCQs scored out of 20, before and immediately after the lecture. Students were also asked to complete a self-reported questionnaire on their perceptions of ARS.
Students reported that the ARS was easy to use, helped them engage with the lecture and encouraged them to work harder. The ARS did not lead to a significant increase in short-term orthodontic knowledge recall of students compared with didactic teaching. However, the use of ARS within orthodontic teaching could make lectures more interactive and engaging. Autobiographical remembering and individual differences in emotional intelligence. The relationship between individual differences in Emotional Intelligence EI and self-reported arousal from remembering an autobiographical emotional or neutral event was examined.
Participants were then asked to recall personal episodes from autobiographical memory, and then completed the Memory Characteristics Questionnaire MCQ. However, differences in ratings between the two groups were not observed for emotionally positive episodes.
These results suggest that high EI is related to more effective use of weak retrieval cues when recalling neutral autobiographical memories.

Intrarater and interrater reliability of pulse examination in traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine. In Ayurveda, pulse examination nadipariksha is an important tool to assess the status of three doshas : vata , pitta , and kapha. Long historical use has been seen as a documentation of its efficacy; however, there is a lack of a quantitative measure of the reliability of the pulse examination method.
The objective of this study was to test the intrarater and interrater reliability of pulse examination in Ayurveda. Fifteen registered Ayurvedic doctors with years of experience examined the pulse of 20 healthy volunteers twice, for a total of examinations.
The examinations were performed blind and in a random order. Only the current status of dosha- specific methods of pulse examination were considered.
Following this, we tested whether proportions of ratings were equal between doctors. According to the Landis and Koch scale, the level of reliability ranged from poor to moderate. It was observed that the doctors more frequently diagnosed a combination of two doshas than a single dosha.
Experience and proper training have important roles in pulse examination. Autopsy: Traditional Jewish laws and customs \”Halacha\”. There can be flexibility as to the extent that such forensic studies can and should be performed.

I-KDPS is composed of seven items to measure the level of balance and adequacy of Korean food consumption, with a maximum score of Even though there were a few differences among the years surveyed, the risk of metabolic syndrome, obesity, hypertension, and hypertriglyceridemia significantly decreased as I-KDPS increased.
These results indicate that risk of diseases, including metabolic syndrome, decreases in individuals adhering to traditional Korean dietary patterns in adequate levels and those who eat a balanced diet. The result of this study shows that the traditional Korean table setting, which comprises side dishes, including seasoned vegetables, grilled dishes, and fermented products with cooked rice bap , soup guk , and kimchi, contains traits that help prevent metabolic syndrome.
I-KDPS coupled with the basic study of the healthfulness of the Korean dietary lifestyle is expected to help establish a foundation for continuous development of health promoting Korean foods and dietary culture. Virtual alternative to the oral examination for emergency medicine residents. The oral examination is a traditional method for assessing the developing physician\’s medical knowledge, clinical reasoning and interpersonal skills. The typical oral examination is a face-to-face encounter in which examiners quiz examinees on how they would confront a patient case. The advantage of the oral exam is that the examiner can adapt questions to the examinee\’s response.
The disadvantage is the potential for examiner bias and intimidation. Computer-based virtual simulation technology has been widely used in the gaming industry. We wondered whether virtual simulation could serve as a practical format for delivery of an oral examination.
For this project, we compared the attitudes and performance of emergency medicine EM residents who took our traditional oral exam to those who took the exam using virtual simulation. Proctors scored residents using the American Board of Emergency Medicine oral examination assessment instruments, which included execution of critical actions and ratings on eight competency categories scale.
Study participants were also surveyed about their oral examination experience. We observed no differences between virtual and traditional groups on critical action scores or scores on eight competency categories. However, we noted moderate effect sizes favoring the Second Life group on the clinical competence score.
Examinees from both groups thought that their assessment was realistic, fair, objective, and efficient. Examinees from the virtual group reported a preference for the virtual format and felt that the format was less intimidating. The virtual simulated oral examination was shown to be a feasible alternative to the traditional oral examination format for assessing EM residents. Virtual environments for oral examinations. A comparison of student achievement on the National Servsafe RTM Examination in an online versus a traditional classroom format.
This study used both quantitative and qualitative approaches to determine whether there is a significant difference in student achievement in food sanitation using a traditional classroom or online delivery as evidenced by the results of the ServSafe exam. Because sanitation is of the utmost importance in preventing foodborne illness, it is imperative to identify effective training delivery methods.
Sixty-six participants who self-selected the delivery of the sanitation class were used in this study. The participants were given a diagnostic exam at the beginning of the course, which determined their level of pre-knowledge, and the ServSafe exam at the end of the course.
The students in online delivery had a higher mean pre-knowledge than those in traditional delivery but did not do as well, though not significantly, on the ServSafe exam. The fact that those in the online delivery began the class with a higher level of knowledge as evidenced on the diagnostic exam yet underperformed the students in the traditional program underscores the relative superiority of the traditional method.
This difference is in even starker contrast when one considers that students in online delivery had more years of experience in the field than those in traditional delivery. Because of self-selection as well as the limited sample size, it is recommended that this study be replicated in other programs in the United States. Psychological, physical, and academic correlates of cyberbullying and traditional bullying. To examine the relationship between children\’s and adolescents\’ experiences with cyberbullying and traditional bullying and psychological health, physical health, and academic performance.
Nine hundred thirty-one students in grades 6 through 12 completed an anonymous survey examining their experiences with cyberbullying and traditional bullying. Also included were measures of anxiety, depression, self-esteem, physical well-being, school attendance, and academic performance. A similar categorization was done with traditional bullying. There appears to be a substantial, although not perfect, overlap between involvement in traditional bullying and cyberbullying. Additionally, the physical, psychological, and academic correlates of the two types of bullying resembled one another.
Audiovisual preconditioning enhances the efficacy of an anatomical dissection course: A randomised study. The benefits of incorporating audiovisual materials into learning are well recognised.
The outcome of integrating such a modality in to anatomical education has not been reported previously. The aim of this randomised study was to determine whether audiovisual preconditioning is a useful adjunct to learning at an upper limb dissection course. Prior to instruction participants completed a standardised pre course multiple-choice questionnaire MCQ.
The intervention group was subsequently shown a video with a pre-recorded commentary. Following initial dissection, both groups completed a second MCQ. The final MCQ was completed at the conclusion of the course. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant improvement in the performance in both groups over the duration of the three MCQs. The intervention group significantly outperformed their control group counterparts immediately following audiovisual preconditioning and in the post course MCQ.
Audiovisual preconditioning is a practical and effective tool that should be incorporated in to future course curricula to optimise learning. An examination of the perceived teaching competencies of novice alternatively licensed and traditionally licensed high school science teachers.
In most states, there are two routes to teacher licensure; traditional and alternative. The alternative route provides an accelerated entry into the classroom, often without the individual engaging in education coursework or a practicum.
No matter the route, teaching skills continue to be learned by novice teachers while in the classroom with the guidance of a school-based mentor. In this study, the perceptions of mentor teachers of traditionally and alternatively licensed high school science teachers were compared with respect to mentees\’ science teaching competency. Further, the study explored the novice teachers\’ self-perception of their teaching competency. The results revealed a statistically significant difference in the perceptions of the mentors of traditionally and alternatively licensed novice high school science teachers in the areas of general pedagogical knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge and professional growth, with more favorable perceptions recorded by mentors of traditionally licensed science teachers.
There were no differences in the perceptions of the mentors with respect to novice high school teachers\’ content knowledge. There was no statistical difference in the self-perceptions of competency of the novice teachers. While alternative routes to licensure in science may be a necessity, the results of this study indicate that the lack of professional preparation may need to be addressed at the school level through the agency of the mentor. This study indicates that mentors must be prepared to provide alternatively licensed novice teachers with different assistance to that given to traditionally licensed novice teachers.
School districts are urged to develop mentoring programs designed to develop the teaching competency of all novice teachers regardless of the route that led them. Comparison of computer-assisted instruction CAI versus traditional textbook methods for training in abdominal examination Japanese experience.
This study aimed to compare the effects of computer-assisted, text-based and computer-and-text learning conditions on the performances of 3 groups of medical students in the pre-clinical years of their programme, taking into account their academic achievement to date. A fourth group of students served as a control no-study group. Participants were recruited from the pre-clinical years of the training programmes in 2 medical schools in Japan, Jichi Medical School near Tokyo and Kochi Medical School near Osaka.
Participants were randomly assigned to 4 learning conditions and tested before and after the study on their knowledge of and skill in performing an abdominal examination , in a multiple-choice test and an objective structured clinical examination OSCE , respectively.
Information about performance in the programme was collected from school records and students were classified as average, good or excellent. Student and faculty evaluations of their experience in the study were explored by means of a short evaluation survey. Compared to the control group, all 3 study groups exhibited significant gains in performance on knowledge and performance measures.
For the knowledge measure, the gains of the computer-assisted and computer-assisted plus text-based learning groups were significantly greater than the gains of the text-based learning group. The performances of the 3 groups did not differ on the OSCE measure.
Analyses of gains by performance level revealed that high achieving students\’ learning was independent of study method. Lower achieving students performed better after using computer-based learning methods. The results suggest that computer-assisted learning methods will be of greater help to students who do not find the traditional methods effective. Explorations of the factors behind this are a matter for future research. Results: We observed no differences between virtual and traditional groups on critical action scores or scores on eight competency categories.
Conclusion: The virtual simulated oral examination was shown to be a feasible alternative to the traditional oral examination format for. This article is an attempt to examine the place and significance of traditional occupations as careers in today\’s world.

Emergence of electronic cigarette use in US adolescents and the link to traditional cigarette use.
Electronic cigarettes e-cigarettes are increasingly used by US adolescents and may be a gateway to traditional cigarette use. The age-varying association between e-cigarette and traditional cigarette use was also examined. Rates of e-cigarette use increase faster than traditional cigarette use from ages Compared to females, males had higher rates of e-cigarette use from ages Between ages , more Hispanic adolescents used e-cigarettes compared to White or Black adolescents; after age 14 Hispanics and Whites reported similar rates, peaking at twice the rate for Blacks.
Hispanic adolescents report greater traditional cigarette use versus Whites between ages , but lower rates between ages Young Hispanic adolescents are at elevated risk for use of e-cigarettes and traditional cigarettes during early adolescence. During early adolescence, youth using e-cigarettes are more likely to smoke traditional cigarettes compared to youth not using e-cigarettes. The study of age-varying effects holds promise for advancing understanding of disparities in health risk behaviors.

Full Text Available There are a number of misunderstandings about ancient oral transmission that negatively affect the way musicians view music history but also the process of how music was and currently is conceived, recorded, and shared. A common misconception is that oral transmission of music is an ancient practice that occurred before written notation of music was developed.
However, I seek to prove that there is a false dichotomy between oral transmission and written notation and I focus on the changing definition and importance of oral tradition. Firstly, I discuss the misconceptions of ancient oral transmission. Secondly, I examine the continuing development of research and definitions of oral transmission—which is changing our concept of ancient as well contemporary oral traditions. Thirdly, I demonstrate how these traditions are still relevant in present, late modern times.
Thoughout this discussion I examine and engage with the pivotal specialists and research that has developed our view of oral tradition through time. Oral culture refers to what is spoken and sung, and aural culture refers to what is heard and comprehended.
Both are necessary for effective transmission to occur, and oral and aural methods are almost always simultaneously present in most societies. When aural culture is discussed here, it refers to the combination of both elements and is closely related to aural tradition.
The most notable terms to differentiate are oral transmission and oral tradition. Typically oral transmission refers to the basic action of passing information, in this case music, through oral and aural means. Oral tradition , however, is the more general concept that synthesizes oral transmission, tradition , and culture. Despite misconceptions that music was primitive before composers started documenting it, oral.
Exploring traditional and cyberbullying among Irish adolescents. This study aimed to explore the associations of traditional and cyberbullying victimisation with self-reported health and life satisfaction, and to examine whether involvement in risk behaviours contributes to these health outcomes.
We asked questions on involvement in traditional and cyberbullying, risk behaviours, self-reported health and life satisfaction to school children. In total, students aged from 15 to 18 years old in 8 post-primary schools in Ireland completed the survey. Children who were victims of bullying were more likely to report poor health, low life satisfaction and engaging in risky behaviours. Although not statistically significant, we found that cyber victimisation was positively associated with increased reporting of poor health and low life satisfaction.
Traditional bullying is the most common type of bullying among school children in Ireland, and overall, seems to have a stronger association with poor health. However, a sizable proportion of children are victims of cyberbullying or of both cyberbullying and traditional bullying. It is, therefore, important to acknowledge, identify and address all types of bullying to improve the health outcomes of children.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of team-based learning TBL methodology on dental students\’ retention of knowledge regarding removable partial denture RPD treatment.
The process of learning RPD treatment requires that students first acquire foundational knowledge and then use critical thinking skills to apply that knowledge to a variety of clinical situations. The traditional approach to teaching, characterized by a reliance on lectures, is not the most effective method for learning clinical applications.
To address the limitations of that approach, the teaching methodology of the RPD preclinical course at the University of Florida was changed to TBL, which has been shown to motivate student learning and improve clinical performance. A written examination was constructed to compare the impact of TBL with that of traditional teaching regarding students\’ retention of knowledge and their ability to evaluate, diagnose, and treatment plan a partially edentulous patient with an RPD prosthesis.
Students taught using traditional and TBL methods took the same examination. The mean score for the TBL class 0. The results of the study suggest that TBL methodology is a promising approach to teaching RPD with successful outcomes. Green Urine in Traditional Persian Medicine. The color of urine is an important factor in urine examination , which can help physicians differentiate various diseases.
Today, it is known that certain dyes, drug intoxications, and diseases can induce green urine discoloration. In the view of traditional Persian medicine, which is based on humoral medicine, green urine discoloration is generally referred to the dominance of coldness in the body. In fact, it is considered to be a result of a special kind of humoral imbalance and fluid depletion or retention in the human body.
Persian scholars believed that green urine could be an indicator of intoxication or a predictor of an imminent spasm or convulsion in pediatric patients. Further investigations could result in finding new diagnostic scales of urine color based on the teachings of traditional Persian medicine.
