Verified Purchase. This game is one of the best games to get in my opinion. The art is cute, and it\’s finely detailed.
You can actually see the adventure unfold as you get closer to later levels, further telling the story in a visual way. The written tips written really show how the princess changed over time, which is a neat way to tell the story from the princess\’s point of view.
There\’s also plenty of humor when you look at it. Really, having the cockatrice as an enemy gives a nice sword-and-sorcery kind of feel, but it\’s neat to see how much on the realistic side the game\’s world is based on. The music is fitting and worth listening to.
A slight downside would be some tracks not looping well, but that isn\’t a major issue. The sound effects are fun to listen to. I could have a slight bias for the ticking of a wind-up toy though. Sir Sprint\’s yell isn\’t always going off, but when it is, it\’s cut short That is, as long as you don\’t fall to your death. Onto the gameplay aspects!
So the game starts you with one button. You also get more abilities, meaning you get more buttons. With a maximum of four buttons, not counting the pause button, you\’ll realize it becomes a task to remember which button is where as your reaction time is tested. It\’s really fun to see how far you can get through the gauntlets of levels. A fun chore is finding hidden cards in the game.
Although it\’s possible to look it up nowadays, discovering some of the more well hidden cards on your own is a great reward. Sometimes, knowing where they are is easier than getting them. It\’s okay to skip the card in hopes of getting more money to help you buy an item, but if you\’re trying to beat the game without spending real-world currency, then be sure to unlock the books first. I actually experienced two gameplay glitches during my time playing.
One glitch had me roll the opposite direction while I tried to jump out of a trap door\’s pitfall. In this game, any vertical wall turns you around upon touch. I assume that as the trap door fell, the floor momentarily registered to my character as a wall and forced him to turn around Another time I experienced a glitch happened when I was low on time, panicking.
I accidentally jumped towards my left to a lower section where a crawlspace was. I also did this in a diving animation. I didn\’t want to roll on through, so I took my finger off, which caused Sir Sprint to stand up in the crawlspace, stuck.
I couldn\’t move, and time ran out. I only experienced those glitches once, each. There\’s also some things that come with playing a touchscreen device in general. The lack of physical buttons gives way to the possibility of pressing the wrong button, or even accidentally double-tapping the button, off-timing your intentions. One issue specific with this device happened st an inopportune moment.
The game kept playing, while Sir Sprint ran to his death. One final issue is noticeable lag on later levels. It may throw your timing off, but all in all, the above setbacks were laughable moments for me. I guess one issue within the game itself, if you really nitpick, is the shaky camera, which gets noticeable in a certain vertical level.
The camera is at an angle so you can get a better view of the level, but moving vertically and horizontally forces awkward moments of timed jumps. Another issue, specifically designed into the game itself, is the use of the foreground obscuring your vision. I\’m personally not a fan of this when placed sporadically throughout a game. Fortunately, the levels in this game aren\’t designed in a random style. One of the earlier levels even has a slight foreground part, most likely as a warm up for later levels with hidden cards.
All in all, it\’s a fun game. There are two things I kind of would like to see. One is a time limit mode, to beat a level as quick as possible, making coin-grabbing a side issue. I feel like that that was going to be programmed in, since there\’s a \”record\” score upon completion of a level.

Only includes 7 levels. I actually bought the \”full\” version years ago, but there\’s no way to restore purchases. Not even when signed in. Tried to contact support 2 ways, through email and their in-app linked Zendesk form, but no response other than automatic emails confirming that I contacted them. I spent money on the first game, and I spent money on this one, but that doesn\’t seem to matter.
I\’ve gotten all 7 levels to S-rank and done all side quests, so there\’s nothing left for me to do. Great game, well the first 7 levels anyway. Wind-up Knight was the best as it rewarded all the levels to you if you got all of the bonus stuff on every level before the next book. I thought this would be the same until I fully beat level 7 and tried to play level 8. Again wonderful game and graphics are even better than the first one but get rid of the pay wall for a 5 star rating.
While the paywall is a bit disappointment, the contents, level of difficulty and machenisim are much more diverse and intuitive than the first windup knight. Yet the game stays true to its core and value which is extremely respectable. There are so much to talk about the windup knight 2 which cannot be summarised this short review. One thing that stops me from purchasing the game would be the lack of update which is probably the biggest complaint of the game.
